WORK EXPERIENCE 1984 - Present Tramway Engineering, Ltd., Glenwood Springs, Colorado President and Ropeway Engineer Consulting firm specializing in all phases of aerial passenger tramway design, construction, operation and inspection. Responsible for the design of new tramways and major modifications to existing tramways. Responsible for conducting detailed pre-operational and operational inspections on all classes of lifts for the State of Colorado and individual ski areas. Develops and supervises acceptance tests and conducts accident investigations. Involved in committees which develop ANSI B-77.1 Codes (Tramway Code). Responsible for conducting incident investigations and providing expert witness testimony. 2000-2004. Glenwood Tramway LLC., Glenwood Springs, Colorado Manager and Director of Tramway, Managing partner in all phases of design, construction, operation and maintenance of a fixed grip pulse gondola. Responsible for initial project feasibility analysis, right-of-way acquisition, financial modeling, permitting, public presentation, environmental analysis, tramway specification writing, contract negotiations, construction inspection and administration and acceptance testing, Responsible for all architectural and engineering design of all project features. 1982 - Present Enartech, Inc./Canyon Engineering, Glenwood Springs, CO Structural Engineer Principal of a consulting firm specializing in structural, civil and water resource engineering. Responsible for the structural design of residential and commercial buildings, bridges and retaining walls using computer aided design (CAD). 1981 - 1982 Schmueser & Associates, Glenwood Springs, Colorado Structural Engineer Structural engineer responsible for the design of commercial and residential buildings. Designs utilized concrete, steel, wood and masonry. Other duties included road, bridge and hydraulic structure design. 1979 - 1981 U.S. Forest Service, Glenwood Springs, Colorado Winter Sports Engineer Reviewed and administered engineering and tramway related projects on 11 ski areas within the White River National Forest. Performed design review, construction inspection and acceptance testing for all new installations. Accompanied Colorado Passenger Tramway Safety Board (CPTSB) and insurance inspectors on pre-operational and operational inspections. Conducted accident investigations and inspections. 1975 - 1979 U.S. Forest Service, Glenwood Springs, Colorado Supervisory Civil Engineer Responsible for all engineering activities on the southern half of the White River National Forest. Duties included review and of engineering and tramway related projects for 5 ski areas. Served as Snow Ranger at the Sunlight Ski Area. Assisted in tramway inspections with CPTSB and insurance company inspectors. Performed independent tramway inspections as required for U.S. Forest Service. 1971 - 1975 USDA Forest Service, Glenwood Springs, Colorado Mountain Road System Engineer Project and design engineer for mountain road systems. Responsible for transportation and environmental analysis, location, survey, design and construction of various design classes of roads to access timber sales and energy development sites. Emphasis was placed on location, environmental control and progressive design. |
